Many of us lead very busy lives, going from one thing to another will little time to slow down and relax. More often than many of us would care to admit, we are in such a rush we cant slow down to take the time to care for our well-being.
I can understand the busy lifestyle, but over the last year I have also come to understand eh importance of maintaining my well-being. For those of you who lead busy lives I have put together a comprehensive guide to self care practices that take less than 10 minutes,
1.) MEDITATE
There is nothing worse than having a full busy day ahead of you and having a busy brain. If you can carve out even five minutes of your day you may find that you fell far more at ease.
It will take some practice, but eventually you will be able to calm your racing mind and compile your thoughts. A great way to start is by using an interactive guide either found on youtube or through the app-store.
2.) FUEL YOUR BODY
Having to go through your day on an empty stomach can be torture and lead to an increased need for fast food. While this is convenient, it isn't the right fuel for your body, though your hungry brain may say otherwise.
If you can take ten minutes out of your day to prep some balanced meals, your body will be thanking you. Now this may not sound like a form of self care, but if your full your body with healthy food, it will love you in return.
3.) JOURNAL
This is a great way to clear your mind of all the clutter that may gather after a busy day. Journaling in the evening before bed is a great way to collect your thoughts at the end of the day and gauge how you are.
If you have a busy brain you may have a hard time understanding how you really are, putting it down on paper makes it easy. If you are feeling overwhelmed and tired, write it out, putting these things out there helps to relieve your head of these worries.
4.) STRETCH BREAK
Whether or not you work a nine to five desk job or youre on your feet all day, a stretch break can be so helpful. Now Im not saying you need to start doing some fancy yoga poses, just stand up walk around and touch your toes.
This one is great to get the blood flowing and a change of scenery is great to clear your brain fog.
5.) CLEAN UP
Our environment plays a huge part in how we feel, a messy room may make you feel overwhelmed while a clean and organized room will help you to feel relaxed. Taking ten minutes out of your day to put away the pile of clothes in the corner of your room and making your bed can make a huge difference.
You dont need to pull out the vacuum and mop, but a speedy tidy up of all the obvious messes can lift your mood. Unless you hate cleaning and thrive in a scattered environment, in which case; you do you girl.
I hope you enjoyed my brief list of self care habits and I hope that you can incorporate these into your busy lives. If you have any self care habits you swear by let me know in the comments down below!
